Stephanos 43 was bishop of Erymna (Orymna) in Pamphylia; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council), where he is only attested at the seventh session on 13 October 787; in the list of those present then he is styled Στεφάνου ἐπισκόπου Ὀρύμνων: Mansi XIII 373 (the Latin version, at XIII 374, has: "Stephano episcopo Orymnensium"). At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council; he is styled Στέφανος ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Ὀρύμνων: Mansi XIII 396. On the names Orymna and Erymna, see Ramsay, Historical Geography, p. 419.
