Nikephoros 22 was a deacon and chartophylax of the patriarch of Constantinople; he was at the second session of the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) on 26 September 787; at the beginning of the session he announced the presence at the doors of the church of an imperial messenger bringing the bishop of Neokaisareia: Mansi XII 1051 (Νικηφόρος ὁ θεοφιλέστατος διάκονος καὶ χαρτοφύλαξ τοῦ εὐαγοῦς πατριαρχείου).
