Konstantinos 133's family name was Kontomytes; during the reign of Theophilos (Theophilos 5) he was strategos of the Thrakesion theme (Κωνσταντῖνος ὁ κατὰ τὸν Κοντομύτην τηνικαῦτα τὴν πρόνοιαν τοῦ θέματος τούτου (sc. τῶν Θρᾳκησιῶν) ποιῶν); at this time the Arabs of Crete used to raid and plunder the shores of the theme; once when one of their armed bands penetrated inland and attacked the monks living around Mt Latros, Konstantinos 133 caught them and killed them all: Theoph. Cont. III 39 (p. 137).
Perhaps identical with the patrikios and strategos of Sicily, Konstantinos Kontomytes (Konstantinos 133), whose daughter, Anonyma 22, married Bardas 13 (after which his son-in-law adopted the name Kontomytes also): Theoph. Cont. IV 22 (p. 175). The text is not entirely clear; it refers to Βάρδαν ... The parents of Bardas 13 were probably Sergios 44 and Eirene 4; certainly Konstantinos 133 was not his father, and the above interpretation is probably close to what the original text said. Cf. Winkelmann, Quellenstudien, pp.118, 158, 188-189.
