Anonymus 398 was a spatharokandidatos and chartoularios of the genikon logothesion; owner of a seal, of uncertain date, possibly ninth or tenth century; no trace apparently survives of the owner's name: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 9, 591b. The text reads: .... [σ]παθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ χ[αρ]τουλ[αρ]ίῳ [τ]οῦ γενι[κ]οῦ [λ]ογοθ[εσ]ίου.
