Anonymus 9 was grandfather of Ioannes 6 (of Gotthia), father of Leo 2, he originated from a place called Bonostos in Pontus Polemoniacus; he served in the thema of the Armeniakoi as a kandophoros (κανδοφόρος): Vita Ioannis Gotthiae, p. 190. His date was presumably early in the eighth century. His post is not otherwise recorded. Perhaps the text is wrong and his post was that of bandophoros, but this title seems attested only among the tagmata, not in the thematic armies.
